Common questions
Who owns my website?
You do: your website, your domain name and the work we’ve done, as long as the bill is paid. We don’t tie you to a hosting contract; we’d rather keep you with good service.
Can I update my website myself?
Yes. We’ll train you on your site’s editor and help whenever you need it. Many clients make some updates themselves and send us the rest.
Should I use POP, IMAP or Exchange?
IMAP, for most people: your mail stays on the server, is backed up nightly and looks the same on every device. POP downloads mail to one device. Microsoft Exchange adds a larger mailbox and shared calendars, contacts and folders.
Is email secure?
Not by default. Never send health information, card or bank numbers, or ID numbers by regular email. We can set up encrypted email that recipients open securely; just ask.
How do I spot a phishing email?
Check the sender’s address, not just the name: one wrong letter gives it away. Never enter a password from a link in an email; go to the site yourself. Don’t open attachments you weren’t expecting. Be wary of requests for gift cards, wire transfers or card payments. If something seems off, call the company on a number you already have, or ask us.
